I think a lot depends on the shooter and his options.
This is honest now, but will get flamed. Who cares.
If a shooter couldn't or can't sell to a better market. He works for the best price level he can get. A lot of online shooters simply were not good enough at something, to get top prices for their work. So ended up shooting for a price they could sell at.
Shooting a BG scene like Max or you do for $1600, isn't on. Not only can't be done, you will not do it because there's better markets.
If you can't shoot to that level you end up working for a client who will pay a lot less. Some here and further East will shoot very cheap. Remember you told me people shoot BG for 800 Euros?
Seeing some of the content I think is coming our of Russia, I doubt if they get that much.
