I actually reached out to some long standing content partners of the tubes and none of them reported what you have stated. The brand I produced for before I started my own production company actually started uploading to Youporn, Redtube, Pornhub and tube8 in 2009 and it was the best decision they ever did. The traffic and conversions were something they had not witnessed in the 8 previous years.
We have 2 websites, orgasms.xxx been live 30 days, casting.xxx been live 70 days. We have in excess of 4,200 full paying members. We do not run any $1 offers, just 1, 3 or 6 monthly memberships. Our main exposure is the tubes, but we are also picking up a lot of affiliates. Yes, lots of scammers rip our videos from the tubes, remove our watermarks and replace with their own, with some even adding their own post roll ad to our video, normally a guy showing you how he grew his cock. We are just as busy as the next company issuing DMCA takedowns to the torrents and file lockers.
In my brief experience, and what I have heard from other reputable content owners that feature on the tubes, if you have the best content, edit the scenes into interesting clips, give certain duration of clips then you will monetize the tube traffic like nothing else. Thats all we are doing.
