In 2004, I was building a site that I couldn't get traffic to. Just for fun, I made 10000 html pages, that had about 100 links on each, all random words. I totally forgot about those pages. One day I looked at my traffic and those 10000 pages were generating all the traffic. Garbage text.
So I made rentyourdot, a much more polished version of "garbage text in a can", that Google just ate up! Basically, rather than park your domains, make "fake websites with content" on them and google sent me tonnes of traffic. Garbage text is always unique, and the content was served from unique IP addresses, all servered from the domain itself, no redirection. Google loved it.
Until some Google employee noticed the mass of traffic they were sending all these domains, and within about 2 weeks all traffic went down to 20% of the amount, then 10%, then 2%....
