I was thinking about this the other day - School hasn't changed much in the past thirty years. It's still the same as when I went to grade school. (I have a kid in the sixth grade.) They still sit at desks, still have books, the chalkboard has been replaced by a white board, and the over head projector is now run off of a laptop. Most classes have a "teachers aid" in addition to the teacher, but otherwise it's all the same.
Oh, they no longer do square dancing. It's not considered a sport for PE class.
We look at the schools and say that they schools have failed us, but the truth is the school is the same as it was thirty years ago. It's not the schools or the teachers that are the problem, it's the parents.
