There is no international equivalent of ACH (automated clearing house) like in the USA.
My bank charges $0.16 cents per ACH transaction and the ACH batch can be input on-line to my account. unmm, this is 2011 -- get with the program.

Amounts can be transmitted bank account to bank account in a matter of minutes here.

The problem is the fragmentation of the banking systems -- in many cases, many banking systems are still in 1987 ...
