If you like food and entertainment:
This is from another post I made a while back.
Sweet Home Chicago! There are just soooo many things to do here. Stick to the NorthSide for entertainment take a cab to Wrigleyville that's Addison/Clark and you will find a wealth of nightclubs trying to outdo each other. Same thing repeats Downtown but more upscale and not as accessible, unless you live there of course.
Someone else said it, but let me repeat: Chicago has the best food in the world. Any ethnicity in the world you will find here and they brought their culinary wealth with them. Sounds yummy? Get ready to add some pounds!
But you can shake those pounds off along the lakeshore. Pretty much the entire shoreline is one huge park stretching from the south to the north and trough the norhern suburbs. If you want a little bit of driving treat start driving north on the Lake Shore Drive (LSD) continue north along Sheridan and keep driving north trough the suburbs to see some awesome houses, villas and palaces really of the Chicago powerful and well-connected. It's a nice ride.
Anway get me on icq if you want a list of my favorite restaurants. I like the usual stuff but also cruise along Devon avenue for Pakistani and Middle Eastern foodstuffs. Dodge the burkas and the Jihadis walking along, this street will scare most country folks silly. But the food is good if you can find a place that doesn't give you the 'infidel treatment'. Pakistanis here tend to be quite radical despite their close location to Indians and Hassidic Jews all along this same street. Go figure.
Chicago is a world class city, I've travelled a bit and I haven't seen a place where the people can live in what seems like segregated neighborhoods yet overall there is pretty good racial and ethnic harmony in the city.
