Beer Bread

I made Beer Bread last night, it was really delicious, better than I had imagined.

Also ridiculously easy, you'll hardly believe it's cooking.

From memory it was...

3 cups of flour
3 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs baking powder
1 tsp salt

Mix that together in a bowl.

Pour a whole beer in quickly (any kind) so that it foams up a lot

Stir about 20 times with a wooden spoon or whatever until you have a lumpy dough. Mine looked a bit dry looking, so I added a couple glugs more beer (called for a 375ml regular bottle, my bottle was 500ml)

Put the dough into a pre-buttered loaf pan

Pour 60g (~4 Tbs) melted butter over the top (it will look like too much butter, just go with it)

Into the oven at 350 for ~40 minutes.

The beer I used was a Schneider Wiesen Edel-Weisse Mein Grunes <-- delicious Hefeweizen beer. Bitter with a strong citrus element. Not the kind of beer you'd think to throw into your food, but I gave it a go and it turned out great. No bitterness in the bread. This is the beer: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/72/759
