would be silly to think they could figure out things such as inter stellar travel yet not have the capacity to do something stupidly simple in comparison as mine for specific elements...
makes for an interesting movie though.
asteroid and comet mining is the future, as soon as they find gold or anything else in need up there we will go after it. It's what brought us to explore in the first place. The search for more.
