I agree with that. The fact that there's a fucking court system for speeding tickets, which do not bring in very much directly per ticket...I mean how much money is wasted in that process, especially if the police officer is present, any lawyers are involved, all the admin costs for that crap, etc.
I believe speeding tickets end up making more for INSURANCE COMPANIES than for governments. In general, government needs to look at where it is completely wasting money, and wasting money on legalities involving speeding tickets is certainly one of them. They may get some money from it, but they would do better to just have stricter penalties on laws that aren't completely stupid.
As someone said, natural traffic in Cali, especially going to/from LA, is 75-80 MPH. That means any and all of those drivers are breaking the law and can be pulled over and given a ticket. And they're not driving unsafely...in fact, the fucking DMV says to enter the freeway at the speed of traffic!
It's just ludicrous. Cities need to make more money? Attach more penalties to DUI or whatnot.
