Currently I use Poser 8 on all but one of my render machines (the oddball has Poser 7 still)
I absolutely LOVE Poser8 because they FINALLY overhauled the entire backend and not just the friggin GUI! Now Poser actually utilizes your CPU and graphics card and it makes the rendertime that much less stressful, rendering video is still too time consuming for me though, and it's still too buggy using only Poser imho

I still have an old copy of Bryce lying around I use from time to time, never really looked into Vue, but I also had some cool software for making planets (terrain and everything) called MojoWorld Generator it's like their first version, dunno where they are at today.
Generally for my environments I buy packs from artists and then from them I make my own versions or create totally new ones with them, same with my models, I'll buy a base skin texture package / clothing package and with the included texture files I can make up to 15 diff unique models, or outfits.
So for texturing I use Photoshop CS3 or CS4 (if I need to make 3D stuff I use CS4)

IF we're talking about the same David Ho, I do like his stuff as odd as it sometimes is lol, I found his stuff years back in Heavy Metal Magazine (One day I'll have something in there) but as much as I am a lover of almost ALL art, I really can't look at it too much otherwise I end up intentionally or unintentionally trying to copy the style which I hate doing.
