I am gunless and driving a chevrolet... priorities, that is exactly right.. I don't have great credit but do have access to a rock solid cosigner and could have bought any vehicle I decided to, yet the car I am in cost $500. For $500 I got a car with new everything (engine, a/c, tires, battery, transmission, suspension, etc) and it does 25-30mpg. May look like hell because it is a 1992, but it keeps me comfortable and gets me places.
I sold my last gun before I moved up here to Wichita. Because like you say, it is all about priorities. I almost bought a 1999 Firebird a few months ago because to me the 1999 firebird is a sharp looking car, like a Camaro but Camaros are for punk ass 19 year old morons... The car I looked at had a NEW crate LT1 in it with some boltons and a 30k mile TH400(my favorite transmission in the world).. I would have paid $5000 for it. GREAT deal. But I knew I didn't need a $200 payment or 9mpg, or a car I'd had to fully insure($250/mo vs. $00/mo), so I prioritized and put myself into the little cheverolet, instead

My post was a generalization about the North American mindset these days. Priorities are all fucked up. It is the same here north of the border, but we have govt health care funded by taxes. People seem to notice the health care ass-raping much less when it comes off at the pay check and is blended in with the rest of their taxes.
But that being said, if she is a priority for you, you'll swallow your pride and take ANY job you can find that includes some sort of medical benefits package.
