If you live in the cave then may be not, but other civilization uses it a lot: telecommunication (including Internet), navigation, weather forecast and many other "usual" things would not exist without space rockets.

Exactly. Which country has launched first sputnik (you call it satellite)? Which country set first man to the orbit? Which country has set there first woman? Citizen of which country has entered the open space? Which country has made first photos of the Moon's invisible side? Which country has made a first successful Moon landing (unmanned)? What's about Venus? At least who has launched the world first successful orbital station (MIR)?
Yes, Americans were on the Moon, but it's just one of many intermediate points like (first planet (say Mars), first asteroid, first planet outside the Solar System etc...) And please don't forget that it wasn't the American program. The US people were sent to the Moon by the German scientists (mostly Nazis) headed by another genius German Nazi Werner Von Braun.
