He should have gotten maybe a small fine for shooting the kids after they were dead / unconscious or maybe an apology to their family - not life in prison.
Better to pick a career as a robber than get 8 years of education as a pharmacist and work hard to create your own business I guess. Seems there's a lot more protection for you in the legal system as a criminal.
