I returned the first smartphone I bought years ago. I really like my Andriod phone, though. I'm answering you via my low end Samsung. I much prefer the openness of Android to the iphone, where Apple feels that they should decide which content is appropriate for me to see. Steve Jobs actually said that people who want to see porn should get Android.
The Swype keyboard software is much better than pecking at buttons. The one thing I miss from getting a low end device us that my phone has little internal memory. Most apps can be moved to the SD card, but some have to be in internal storage.
I'm at a social event my wife brought me to. From here, I can read my office mail via IMAP and see that a customer has a problem. I can then look at their FTP info stored on my office machine and FTP or SSH to their site and fix it. Almost anything I can do from the office I can do with Android. I have had a few "typos" in this post where the touch screen recognized a word wrong and I had to correct it.
When the office internet goes down I'll just tether the router to my phone and run the office over 3G until the internet is fixed.
