Tonight HBO is airing a documentary called Hot Coffee. If you remember several years back a woman spilled hot coffee on herself, sued McDonald's and won 2.4 million. Overnight she became the face of frivolous lawsuits.

As it turns out it wasn't that simple. She did spill the coffee on her lap and got 3rd degree burns from it. She had to have a few different surgeries and a skin graph to fix the damage. She did sue, but she was only asking for an amount to cover her medical bills. she is elderly and on Medicare. Medicare didn't pay the whole bill so she sued to have McDonald's pay what Medicare wouldn't. The jury took it upon themselves to award her 2.4 million.

This movie tells the story of how that happened and how it changed this woman's life. Looks like it could be good.
