the difference probably is: here people are used to it and take more care when changing lanes for example. i have seen some really bad and careless behaviour on US highways - including all those retards that seem to think having a phone conversation or texting is something you should do in traffic.
when we have the same discussions on GFY about guns it's always "it's not the gun, it's the people who kill". it's the same with cars and driving fast.

the speed limit is a direct reflection of the road conditions AHEAD.
The autoban was made with long sweepihng curves made for high speeds.
Roads in the USA were not made that way and should not be driven the same.
