Impressed: Patricia charmed John Kluge by performing a bell-dance for the billionaire television mogul
Among those gazing at her gyrating figure, and breaking into a sweat, is television mogul John Kluge, 60, a married man judged by Forbes magazine to be the richest in America.
As the portly, 5ft 4in émigré German billionaire later told a friend: ?She cooked the dinner and then she did a belly dance on the table, and I said to myself: ?Where have I been all my life?? ?
Her jewellery is gone, too, sold at auction to raise money. Her antiques are also no more, right down to her treasured Chippendale dressing commode, harp and harpsichord which lent such a comfortable though phoney ?old-money? feel to the 45-room house with its pillared library and marble statues.
Some £35 million has been raised, but £30 million is still owed.
This week, as she and her third husband, former IBM executive Bill Mosley, filed for bankruptcy, Patricia, 62, faces an altogether different future.
Even the £4 million house they?ve had to move into ? one of dozens they built on the 6,000-acre estate but failed to sell in the recession ? will be sold from under them to help pay off debts. Who knows, Patricia Kluge might even find herself back in the kind of small flat she used to share in Onslow Gardens, Kensington, in those far-off days when she took a bus to work and day-dreamed of being rich.
