I don't see why they are so baffled. We had about five years of housing bubble where tons of shitty sub-prime mortgages were sold so we are due for about five years of crash in that area and we have somewhere near a couple of years left in that.

Add in businesses that have taken their manufacturing jobs offshore and it makes a recovery harder to come by.
