I have visited Amsterdam many times and enjoyed its sights and sounds. In doing so, I asked my friends why the Dutch society was so liberal? I was told of the 90,000 citizens that were taken to the Nazi concentration camps and never returned. I was told by my friends that they would rather live in a society that was tolerant than return to a police state. They have first hand knowledge of a real "police state".

So saying, I recognize the right of the Dutch government to kick out the drugged-out tourists. I sincerely hope that once the tourist are gone, the Dutch will continue their social liberalization experiment and recognize the right of their countrymen to indulge in herbal recreations. Their socially liberal society is an excellent example of what life can be like in a socially liberal state.

Truth is, the tourists are ruining the experience for the Dutch and giving credence to the arguments of the conservative, right-wing politicians that want to increase police powers.

Consequentially, I think it is time for the tourist to go. Maybe the tourists can come back later to an even better experience.

Just my opinion.
