I have been wanting to get back to the Dam, I might definitely have to go now one last time before this goes into effect. But it will be the last time I ever set foot in the country, same for a lot of other people as well I am sure. Oh well... I am sure they can make up all that lost tourist revenue by selling tulips as they sink further and further into the Sea. Dumbasses-
Come to think of it, it might actually make Amsterdam a cooler, more cosmopolitan type city. The first time I visited Amsterdam was 12 or so years ago when I studied for a summer in France. After graduating two years later, I went back to Europe for about 6 months and went to Amsterdam three separate times during that time frame. Since then, I've traveled to various places in Europe maybe 6 or 7 times and the thought of going back to Amsterdam has never really even crossed my mind.

I thought it seemed kind of hard to meet locals, which is something I always like to do when traveling. My theory was that locals were so numb to meeting tourists because most tourists probably get high and act stupid. I didn't really feel like I was able to get a true feel for the Dutch culture until spending a weekend in Delft and hanging out with a bunch of locals.

Getting rid of the coffee shops might make the city less overrun by hippie/part-time hippie tourists. Even just containing the coffee shops might be a good idea. Give them a little area like Christiana in Copenhagen. Copenhagen is freaking awesome. Very cosmopolitan. Aesthetically pleasing. Cool architecture. Hot girls. And everyone's really friendly there because the city is not perpetually overrun by annoying tourists.
