Arnald and Maria were both rich before they got married. From what I understand from community property law is that she gets 50% of what he or she made after they got married. Everything he or she owns before and everything that he or she owns that brings in interests and or income prior to being married stays theirs.
All inheritances and gifts also stay separate during marriage.
