Go to an Apple store and ask one of the sales people all of your questions you have, then sit and play with a Mac for 10 minutes or an hour.
Macs run everything, including Windows.
In the almost 3 years that I've been using macs, I have found only 1 problem: While there is a version of Quickbooks for Mac, it is not compatible with the CANADIAN data format that Quickbooks for Windows users. (I know, sounds silly).

No, that isn't all it takes, I just never have had any first hand experience with them. I have an old Mac here in my house that just needs an OS and I just haven't gotten it yet, just so I could play with it a bit. None of the stores around me have or sell Mac's so getting some hands on with one hasn't been an option.
A lot of people have told me that they have made great improvements on them in the last number of years, I just haven't been in a place where I can get some hands on with one yet. I WANT to though.... they look badass. I am just not sure that they wouldn't be too much for me and my own abilities. lol
