As a disabled person myself I can still appreciate it. Some do need to lighten up a tad. The jokes were not distasteful or crude. They were not really done to be mean spirited either, and honestly most disabled people often get a kick out of a little humor pointed in our direction. I agree with that. I'm a disabled person (spastic paraplegia) and I make jokes about myself all the time and don't care if other people do the same. Of course, if they are being complete pricks that's different, but in life you have to have a sense of humor or you will live a pretty miserable life.
