Traditionally yes, corned beef & cabbage is Irish dish. I put onions in mine as well as the usual potatos and carrots, and simmer it all in beef broth rather than water. I know plenty of English folk who make it similar to this.

I also put a few good shakes of tabasco in mine. probably because I'm only part Irish.

A lot of people here use canned corned beef, I don't. I put a couple of pounds of the real deal in mine, bought from my butcher, sliced thin.

Should be just about ready...
