I didn't go get an application but it was widely talked about that they were trying to hire all of the people first who were put out of work by the oil spill.
When they had the oil spill and it put out of work tens of thousands of people, those people were suffering. BP wanted to hire those people first to help them out since they had put them out of business. Also these were the same people who know the waters the best and most had boats as well.
But I am sure a superman will tell you how locals and marines couldn't do the job so they had to hire fletch the superman to do it. People like fletch (out of towners from California) saw an opportunity to make a lot of money from BP and they jumped on when there were thousands of other people trying to get on that really needed the money and had been put out of work by the disaster.
This moron keeps talking about "locals" as in the oil spill only happened in Jean lafitte, and they were only hiring *residents* from Jean lafitte. Which is beyond retarded, the oil spill come on shore along all of southeast louisiana, affecting many parishes and town and miss and alabama too. I can't even respond to this retardation any more of "jean lafitte, everyone else is outsiders" bull shit.
Funny a guy who spent the majority of his adult life in California, call people who have lived their whole life in southeast louisiana an "outsider". And someone who sat in front of a pc all day doing adult design banners, is trying to justify cutting in line and taking work from the people who worked on boats that were out of work.

Looks like more than just your town or the one you pretend to be from "Marrero" boy. The oil also shut down commercial fishing, shrimping, oysters, crabbing etc... tens of thousands of people over a much bigger area because of closures they did.
