I'm honestly not trying to ride your ass here like Will. My initial post was all in fun.. But inmates aren't hired. They are made to work or they don't get early releases and the only reason they are paid is if not it would be 1. illegal and 2. states pay all inmates to work so all inmates have money to buy necessary items while in jail to cut back on theft and everything that revolves around that. Such as someone getting killed for stealing. Also in a case such as this where they are paid (if they were) by a private company they most likely had to pay the jail for room and board.
