I can concur what Mark is saying that winning(and even being nominated for a) xbiz award increases your exposure, and leads directly to new sales. While i can't comment on xbiz's financial position, as i am not in the know, i can attest to our successful campaign for AdultCentro in participating in Xbiz advertising, and shows.

As Ron said, Xbiz was created on a blank slate, when Alec had no prior experience of publishing (i know of) and when Xbiz came out i really thought they were crazy trying to compete with AVN, who was #1 by all standards at the time, but i think they have successfully carved a piece of market for themselves. I subscribe and read all xbiz news, because i want to stay on top of what's going on in the industry, and the news that come out of the Xbiz seem to be more up to date then they are from AVN (as far as online is concerned) at the moment.

I think having more then 1 Trade magazine/powerhouse is healthy, and is positive for the industry, because it leads to innovation.. we all know what happens when there is a monopoly, as it was defacto with avn/internext, and we saw where that ended up.. they became lazy and stagnant and were in the gutter until Theo and Panos came in to shake things up.

So time will tell what will happen with Xbiz, but i think if they were to go out of biz, it would only hurt our industry as a whole, so i won't be rooting for that.
