But why do they need approval of major media publishers. People just upload their own music (which they already 'own'), logging in goes trough your google account, so you can't share the music with other people. So it's just a service where users can upload their own mp3s so they can stream it from other devices.
And once millions of people use it, I'm sure the record companies will be very interested in placing ads, or options to buy new music etc.
