No they don't stop 2 inches from contact! LOL! I wrestled for years in the Southeast in Independent feds. Trust me....you are getting hit. No, not like a straight to the mouth punch (that would bust your teeth out), but if I hit you with a "gimmick punch" it hurts like hell...it's just not full on contact. More of a glancing blow. But it hurts.
Pro wrestling is an art form. A "dance". But it does hurt like hell. And the things that hurt the worst are the things that don't look like they would hurt...like running the ropes.
I'd rather take a big power bomb (which is just a back bump to the mat...once you learn to take it it's nothing, if you don't know how to take it it will knock your breath out of you) than to run the damn ropes! lol
