If you default on a car payment, it goes into repo and you hide it and continue to drive it. Isn't that theft? Why can't banks or auto dealerships file criminal charges against you? I know a guy who's been hiding a 42' Carver Yacht from the bank for more than 2 years and they're not arresting him for theft. It's a $1M boat, not some furniture set that cost them $300 and they sold for $3,500.

My complaint is that OUR tax dollars are being used to arrest people who default on their payments to Rent to Own places. They're using the police as their collection agency and that's just not right. It's a civil matter and should be handled accordingly.
