I truly enjoyed living abroad for 5 years. When you come back home to America after living in other cultures you immediately sense the way the media, commercials, and talk TV (even the comedy shows) are pitting one against the other while creating an amazing amount of anxiety, animosity and anger in our society. This is something most Americans don't pick up on because they don't experience anything else.

The thing that pisses me off is foreigners picking the most idiotic of our society and pegging it as the norm, or something most of us give a shit about.

Another thing that pisses me off is when you travel overseas and open your mouth to speak and when they hear the accent they think they automatically know everything about you, and how to target you, because you're American.

The thing foreigners don't get about Americans is that we are so tightly wound here that we will focus on the most stupid inane shit you can think of to take our mind off all the bullshit we are bombarded with constantly on a daily basis. It's that simple.

We don't give a shit. It's something to take our minds off what matters.
