Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing most of those people are older, and in their 50s / 60s, right? I chalk that up to simply societal stigma. When they were a young buck of 22yo, you simply weren't allowed to be gay. I grew up in a small, redneck oil patch town myself backs in the 90s, so I could just imagine what it would have been like in the 60s or 70s.

And that's the million dollar question. Nobody knows. There's been decades of research done, and still no conclusive evidence whatsoever on what causes sexuality. I'm not a doctor, so personally, I don't give a shit. I just know there's zero chance my sexuality is changing, everyone is dealt a hand of cards in life, and the hand itself doesn't matter so much, but how you play it does.
