I'm not all that proud of it either (as in not at all), but there is a point of argument that must at least be acknowledged, that being the fact that these seals breed like rats. If their population is left unchecked they eventually start affecting fish populations and thus hurting the fishing industry. At least according to those making the argument, like people who study the fishing industry for a living, government ecologists, etc.
People can disagree with the practice all they want, but to slam all Canadians for it? All the while ignoring the other issues that go with it? As I said I'm not all that big on seal clubbing either, never have taken part and never would. But as much as I dislike it's practice or it being attributed to Canadians as a people I still have to concede that there does seem to be reasons why it's done, beyond what those like this sally rand would have everyone believe.
