THIS IS ENTIRELY ABOUT 2000 AND NOT ABOUT 2011, IT'S TO LATE TO PUT THE MILK BACK IN THE BOTTLE.
Of course I know some of them and know they exist. Would you like there to be more?
Because that's what all you are arguing
AGAINST. You seem to think having more top quality sites, or raising the quality of those top quality sites even higher is wrong. And that rise in quality costing the site owner
LESS on his content budget.
If a site, no names, had come to a long time successful professional content producer and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. This would of been the result. A person with many years experience producing content for the top markets would of taken over the content side of the company.
The choice of who to choose for this job would depend on the sites style, niche and action. Bang Bus would of gone to a Gonzo producer, Twistys to a Playboy style shooter, ATK to someone like me. Not me someone in the US. I'm not an outstanding shooter in the magazine or DVD market. I'm one of 100s. So lots of guys to choose from.
The boss of the site could then, leave the content side of the company to an employed person or partner and got on with the marketing of the site, programming, design, etc. Jobs he was probably better at.
The new content director would of looked after the content side of the business.
Including selling the content offline. So his extra costs would of come out of these sales. His position would of actually resulted in content costing the site less or the site having more and better content. A good stills shooter with access to good models who aren't shot to death is very capable of producing 100 sets a year that will sell for $300,000 in revenue to mags.
Non-exclusive. The same goes for DVD production.
The result would be far better content, better traffic, better conversions and better retention = More $$$$$$$$ for everyone.
No we, with a few exceptions as Agent pointed out, went down the route of paying as little as possible for content. Then as much as possible for traffic, because ratios and retention sucked. Sponsors were asking guys to shoot exclusive sets for $150, sets and videos for $300 and still looking for a deal. While paying out 50% to 70% or high PPS amounts to get a sale and giving the affiliates every tool they possibly could, spending a lot on promoting to affiliates and supporting them. Because the site needed a ton of traffic to make a sign up.
Now you're all able to look at it with the benefit of hindsight. Would my route of meant more better sites or less?
Yes people did come to me with offers. Two of the biggest programs and one of the biggest whales. Their offers were stupid. Like shoot exclusive for us and we will pay you $50,000 a year, type offer. When I told them to treble the offer and told them how it would work by selling to mags or DVD. They were more interested in having exclusive poor content to give to affiliates than sell to markets that were clearly ignoring the Adult Internet.
For the ten years online I've argued that some sites could of had better content. Which would of led to more profit. For 10 years trolls have told me I'm wrong.
