Just because people have good tours on their paysites doesn't mean a lot. You can pay someone to get your site to look fantastic on the outside. The people will sign up and when they get inside they will freak because the paysite lacks uniqueness and doesn't keep recurring members. Research your niche, find suitable videos, and have a page or a forum where questions can be answered so they know they are paying for something that will interest them. Refunds suck, dedicate yourself into one paysite at a time and when you have profitable results, and understand what a average joe is looking for, you will eventually start making it.
Paul understands the basic principals of what people like to see and what people want. That made him successful. As time goes by all he has to do is adapt to the new standards and profit off new ways if he needs to and I think he has enough grasp on adult to do so.
