so meni, on another board, let me know about a program called lean gains. it's not based on what you eat but when you eat. basically it involves fasting every day, so for 16 hours (from 9 at nite till 12-1 the next day, i do not eat anything at all. then between 1 and 8 i eat whatever i want to.
there's research that backs up the benefits of intermittent fasting in regards to not only keeping lean mass but adding lean mass as well. in addition to many other benefits of fasting, such as hormone output.
for the protocol to work, it has to be coordinated with resistance training, not much but the right stuff- compound movements 3x a week, about 2.5 hours total.
so i decided to give it a whirl and it does work for me and fits very well with my lifestyle.

Interesting, I'll have to look into it. Initially it seems to go against much of the normal rhetoric we hear of making sure you don't skip breakfast, avoiding high fat, high carb foods and eating smaller more frequent meals, but its worth checking out.
