I understand that your refering to the past when it was done with 'affiliates'. But I am on about offering this option to surfers. With not huge rewards, just say a free pass or somthing.
It may be simple as if they post on there twitter site you offer per clicks credit.
A bit like big firms offer stars with lots of followers cash to post about there product.
If somone has lots of followers its worth getting them to promote your site.
i have seen some users have 500,000 or m,ore followers. Just a tweet from them could get you a few sales.
