I think the obvious outcome that we're seeing now should have been pretty easy to predict. I'm just laughing at what a stupid fucking maneuver this was on Parson's part...

For the amount of money he makes he could have gone a much much different route. If he really cared he could have had the elephants relocated to a wild life preserve and flown in a ton of a grain and rice for the locals to eat, all for the spare change in his pocket (figuratively speaking of course). The fact of the matter is, he wanted to shoot an elephant, hence the "trophy" picture. That is the sole reason he did it. To save the crops and provide food for the locals was just a cover story.
