why the hell Japan with 127 million people they would even use nukes is stunning considering they are surrounded by water. wave power, tide power, wind power, geo thermal, hydroelectric possibly...

this incident has just reminded what a bad idea nukes are in the first place.
1)they are extremely expensive to build
2)while accidents are few and far between, a bad accident is really fucking bad.
3)the u.s. is already at the emergency point for the storage of highly radioactive waste, and world wide this shit is going to lead to some major problems cuz other countries aren't even as diligent as the u.s. as far as nuke ops and waste disposal.
actually the link between earthquakes and tsunamis is relatively new, i believe it was the indonesian one that they discovered this.

without nuclear power there is no internet, so lets not throw something away we all benefit from just yet shall we?
