I beg to differ, if it is a hot scene and I can't see the action, its crap.

I want a hot scene in focus where I can see everything....

The girls are the same its the makers that are different. Not to say that the director's input (What you call the porn bit ) is important... At the end of the day you are making a representation of sex not sex itself. It can be done better...

The industry has found that it does not have to be done well to sell.

It is depressing that all you seem to be argueing for is a little less crap porn...

On the practical side...

You can hire an extremly good camera a SONY EX1 for about $150 a day. This is a great camera and very easy to use with real focus, zoom and f-stops. Like a DSLR. but without being able to change lens.

If you wanted to go up a bit more you could hire an electrician with lights for a few dollars more, there are sparks with experience in the movie industry there that know their stuff and could light your scene like a real movie....
