Almost no land mass in the world that isn't prone to major earthquakes. And that area of N. American has a giant underground volcano pushing on the App. range plate from the West. It's only a matter of time before the pressure builds and that plate pops, probably not in our life times but the pressure is building - and those are monster quakes when they happen.
