The guy was drunk, and started stealing drinks from Snookie's party, so she was giving him shit for it, and he just clocked her--he later claimed he had no memory of doing it. As a result, he was arrested, lost his job as a high school gym teacher and with no hope of getting another job like that, ended up by joining the Army, where he can hit (and even kill) people AND get paid for it.
