I agree with most in this thread, avoid Mesa. The area you are looking is a newer exclusive area, but its by far the exception in Mesa. As far as bang for you buck in the price range you are looking, I would look in the south Chandler area. The area is mainly newer housing, lots of shopping, restaurants ect... nearby and some exceptional values on foreclosures and short sales now if you're willing to move quick when they become available.
