Get HPS or metal halide bulbs, you can find plenty of different charts online to determine what you'll need to get for lighting for your estimated number of plants. 4-5 plants, you could get away with one good bulb, and a wide reflector. You don't need to be cranking off one giant crop at a time if you are growing for personal use, you can set up a small area with a a bulb or two and keep cycles running at different stages. Keeping a small crop has plenty of advantages, especially if you're not so legit. Seed the air too, makes a huge difference. If you can't afford the gear to seed CO2, just go ghetto and do it with vinegar and baking soda.
