The problem is.. that its all too subjective, if you've never eaten fois gras or truffles, and you don't appreciate what you are eating, some might be tempted to say that they taste like shit. Jimmy's point is that perhaps someone who maybe only likes Applebees Steak, may not be qualified to say if the food they are eating at The French Laundry is good or not. Its all about appreciating the subtleties. That's not to say that Applebees is bad, but at the French Laundry, you are paying the difference for what you hope is food on another level. Whether the person's palate gets that, is up to that individual.
