1. I do both. They seem to convert about the same. A lot depends on the sponsor and the amount of update content they make available.
2. I prefer to niche. I have a couple of general interest blogs. They do ok, but the niched blogs make more sales.
3. Main ones I check everyday. Others weekly. If I get an email with new content, I'll generally use that sponsor first. I don't use their stories, but its nice to have some text - or at least the model's name - to help inspire .
4. I have no trouble writing a lot of text. As for meta descriptions, I custom code my blogs to display relevant descriptions and keywords. I noticed that Google would take random text from my posts, so I had to recode the meta description tag. I haven't seen an increase in traffic, but my Goog listings look much nicer.
5. I don't use RSS feeds on my blogs, but I let others use mine if they want.
