There is nothing in the constituition says your parents have to be legal in order for you to become a citizens. The 14th amendment explicitly states that if you are born here POOF you are a citizen. They did it for a good reason. So the qualifications to become a citizen weren't subjected to political whims. If it were 100 years ago people would be complaining about the Irish immigrants "ruining" our country.
