Not so much with the free music any more. A lot of people I talk to won't download for free because they're worried about being sued by the record companies. Plus the lawyers have shut down most of the convenient ways of getting free music. Sure there will always be hardcore geeks who will get it free.
If the porn industry could fund a similar legal effort, things would be better. Could you imagine a "MP3hub" surviving for more than a week? If the site's clear purpose is to violate copywrite, the laywers can shut them down.
Could you imagine if people started getting sued for downloading free porn? Attitudes would change very quickly, as no one wants that kind of imbarrassment in their lives.
