F9 should give you better depth of field than some of the samples here. Best to shoot F11 or F13 then. But I would also look at why some of these samples look soft then. Maybe over compressed.
This one is an example of what I mean. F9 should give you more depth of field.
When the image is full size any soft focus, out of focus shot or even diffused shot looks bad and sites like images very large today.
