Tam are you sure they are mini's? Mini's have a max height of 34". Weanlings 4-6 months should only be about 30" I would say the older one, though it is hard to tell from the pics, is probably 36" maybe 38", and the young filly doesn't look to far behind him for only 6 months old.

Most mini's a A LOT smaller I think our biggest was 28" and we only got him as a "pet" for one of our disabled horses...lol

Even as pets you need to teach them certain things, mostly manners but a mini pulling a cart is great exercise for them and keeps them from getting sour. The last thing you need is a barns sour/ pasture sour mini, they are small but can still hurt you and they are more ornery than a full size horse even on a good day. There is something about mini's and ponies, they just aren't as cooperative and are a lot more stubborn than a full size horse, we called it short horse syndrome...lol
